  2. Wilhelmina has a plus size division i think. I think Ford does also. You still have to be in shape with clear skin, nice teeth, nice hair. But you still have to be tall for plus size modeling, so unless you grow a 3 inches…. or no modeling,

  12. My answer is based on the assumption that you have little or no previous modeling experience:

First of all - someone mentioned Barbizon. Please understand Barbizon, JRP, Casablanca's are all modeling schools. Their job is to sell training. They'll charge you thousands of dollars for classes and pictures. When you spend your entire week trying to sell model hopefulls classes it doesn't leave alot of time to find work for their clients. See where I'm going? Save your money, stay away from these guys.

Second, people suggested agencies like Ford and Elite. These are indeed two of the top agencies in the country and perhaps the world. As such take into consideration that these companies get litterally hundreds of models a day flocking to them hoping to be discovered. And with that many models to choose from they can afford to be EXTREMELY picky on who they select.

If you are just starting out I would highly recommend visiting OneModelPlace.com - its a huge online community for the industry. You can network, find local photographers (many of which will help you build a portfolio for free) and depending on your area you may be able to find work on OMP. Best of all, for models, OMP is free to join. Model Mayhem is another great site for networking. Utilize these tools to get some shooting experience, build a good portfolio and network with some local professionals. After that you'll be a little better prepared to compete at a level like Elite and Ford.

If you have any other question feel free to contact me. Good Luck!
