Barely Legal Radio: Can I “audition” my modeling agents?

Leslie from Laguna Beach is no doubt stunning (and none of the pictures on this video are actually her, they are used only to hold your interest by giving you an insight into what I’m picturing in my mind’s eye when I take these calls). Her question centers around wanting to have multiple agents working for her modeling career and she will pick the best one. I have a problem this and one other classic mistake she is making that many people make when pursuing their dreams in show business. Barely Legal Radio can be heard live every Friday from 11am to noon on indie1031.com in Los Angeles hosted by Joe Escalante. Call on Fridays to get your legal questions answered for free or better yet, email your questions to info@barelylegalradio.com and we will set up a time to call you back and record your question and answer for the next broadcast. Go to barelylegalradio.com for more details.#1019071

Can I work with more than one modeling agency?

Yes! And I encourage you to do so! This does apply to those models that have only signed non-exclusive contracts however. Most professional working models have representation in every major city. This is the difference between those models who only work once and a while and those who actually make a profession out of modeling in smaller markets. Keep in mind however; if you are with a high fashion agency they most likely will have you under an exclusive contract. So either you will only work through their agency or they will find you representation in other cities on their own- serving as your mother agent. If you live in a smaller market- do not get enticed by signing an exclusive contract. Most likely they will not have enough work to keep you busy. If they insist- ask them if you can work on a non exclusive basis for a three month period. If you are working a ton- then sign- if not stay non exclusive!
